The session will introduce the theme of developmental local government and reflect on the policy, institutional and implementation challenges of ensuring that local governemnt effectively meets the needs of local communities.

Plenary 4 Developmental local government’s: providing leadership for social development and economic growth
The session will look at the leadership role of lcoal government as a community leader, able to galvanise a cross-section of stakeholders to acheive sustainable economic growth and social development; and the role of councillros and MPs in representing and speaking up for their communities locally and with other spheres of government.
